The purpose of this article is to explore the nuances of SAFE notes in venture investing, beyond the standard terms and features widely described elsewhere. It is not meant as an introduction to SAFE notes, several useful references are provided throughout for those new to the concept. We hope to cover the important factors to be considered when using SAFEs for fundraising and investing from both a founder and investor (covering existing and incoming investors as well as noteholders vs shareholders) perspective.
